With 2toDrive you start a year and a half earlier than used to be possible. The dates in a row: you may take the theory exam from sixteen, driving lessons from 16.5 and your practical exam from seventeen. If you pass, you drive with a supervisor beside you until you turn eighteen.
What you get out of it
That final year is the point of the scheme. You cover kilometres in the period when you would normally only be getting in after your exam, and with someone next to you who can step in. At eighteen you are on your own with far more experience than someone who has just passed at eighteen.
Conditions for your supervisor
Your supervisor registers with the CBR and must be at least 27, have held a category B licence for at least five years and have had no driving ban in the past five years. You may register several supervisors, for example both parents.
During the lessons we discuss how you practise together, so your supervisor speaks the same language as your instructor. That prevents the most dangerous part of driving together: two people saying different things at the same moment.
Planning it well
Take your theory just after turning sixteen. Then at 16.5 you can start driving without the theory hanging over you; how to approach it is in passing your theory exam. From the start, count on roughly six months to your exam if you drive once a week, so starting at 16.5 means an exam around seventeen.
More about the scheme and the timeline is on driving lessons from 16.5. What a whole course costs is in what a driving licence costs in Breda, and you begin with a trial lesson of € 25.
