Exam

Failed your driving test. Now what?

Annoying, but not a verdict. What to do with the result and how to approach a resit.

Failed your driving test. Now what?

Failing is annoying and it costs money. But it is a snapshot of one hour, not a judgement on whether you can drive. What you do with it in the days after determines how much it costs you.

Actually read the result

You get an explanation from the examiner. There is usually something usable in it: for example that the driving itself was fine but that you looked too late twice when changing lanes. That is something you can practise, and very different from "general uncertainty".

Go through it with your instructor and put it next to your lesson card. Often you will see that the part which went wrong had come up as an attention point before; see driving with structure.

Do not book again straight away

The temptation is to grab a new date as soon as possible. Only do that once the point that went wrong has really been practised. Two or three targeted lessons are usually enough, and they cost less than a second rejection. Short of lessons? You add a follow-up package from € 585; see prices and packages.

If nerves were the cause

If it was not your driving but the tension, a second attempt the same way makes little sense. Then read exam anxiety and the driving test: there is a separate exam format with more time and explanation beforehand, and an interim test to go through the hour once without a result.

The resit

You book a new exam the same way as the first: your authorisation via mijnCBR is still there, and usually your health declaration too. The steps are at exam and resit, and how such an hour goes is in the practical exam in Breda.

Failed at another school and want to finish with us? That works. During a trial lesson we look at where you stand and pick it up from there, with the starter package or a follow-up package that matches what you still need.
