The practical exam takes a little over an hour, of which you drive for roughly 45 minutes. You take it in the lesson car you learned in, with your instructor in the back or not, whichever you prefer.
What you arrange beforehand
Two things. You complete your health declaration at the CBR — without an approved declaration no exam can be booked, so do this in good time. And through mijnCBR you authorise the school to reserve the exam for you. Your instructor books it after that. You also need a valid theory certificate. The steps are at exam and resit.
What the examiner does
You drive a route through different kinds of traffic: quiet streets where you judge right of way, busier arterial roads where you change lanes, and usually a stretch of motorway with merging and exiting. Along the way you get one or two special manoeuvres, such as turning around or reversing into a bend, and a stretch of independent driving on navigation or on a route you have to remember.
He is not looking for perfection. He is looking at whether you drive safely, smoothly and independently: do you look in time, do you adjust your speed to what you see, do you leave room where you should. Changing gear a beat late is not a fail; entering a junction without looking is.
Why we drive those roads earlier
Because the examiner does not pick his route by accident. We mix the three environments around Breda from the first lessons on, not only in the final weeks; why that matters is in this piece about the roads around Breda. Your lesson card shows when the independent drives are good enough: see driving with structure.
Want to experience the exam once without a result? There is the interim test: the same hour, the same kind of route. What you get out of it is in the interim test. The practical exam costs € 299 through us; all rates are at prices and packages. Failed? Then read failed your driving test, what now.
